What is a blowout?

You’ve probably heard the terms “blow dry” or “blowout” from a colleague, family member or friend at some point. You may have thought to yourself at some point, “is a blowout just blow drying your hair?”.  Blowouts have been a staple of hairstyling for many, many years, and nowadays there are many different ways and definitions of a blowdry. Depending on your stylist’s technique and the products used, you could end up with a number of different styles. In its simplest form, a blowout means the art of drying your hair after a wash into the desired style. With a blowout, you can create curly hair, straight hair or subtle waves without any curling or flat iron involved. No matter which style you go for, you’ll achieve a smooth, beautiful look and feel amazing!

How long does a blowout last?

A blowdry is designed to last for several days before you need to wash your hair again or come back for another blow dry. Depending on your hair texture and thickness, you can expect your blow-dry to keep its shape for 3-5 days, maybe even longer. If you want to try to extend the lifespan of your blowdry, here are some simple tips to follow :

  • Keep your locks dry and out of the rain.
  • Sleep on a satin pillowcase to avoid morning bed-head.
  • Wear a shower cap when showering.
  • Avoid activities that make you sweat.
  • Blast your roots with a hairdryer to freshen up your blowout.

Use dry shampoo to absorb excess oils from the scalp.

How does a blowout work?

The first step your stylist will take is to wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner. After your hair is cleaned and towel-dried, we’ll add a leave-in conditioner to detangle, protect and condition your hair before blow-drying it. After all this preparation, the actual blowdry is ready to start. Our stylist will achieve your desired hairstyle with a range of different brushes and a hairdryer. Once your hair is in the right shape, your stylist will use professional hair care products to add the finishing touches and ensure dimension, texture and long-lasting hold.

Does a blowout damage my hair?

All of our stylists are professionally trained to ensure that your hair won’t receive any damage from a blowout. A hairdryer will never get as hot as other styling tools, such as flat or curling irons, which decreases the risk of heat damage significantly. Furthermore, we use controlled techniques and professional styling products to protect your locks and minimize frizz.

Can I get a blowout with extensions?

Yes, of course! Extensions are designed to be one with your natural hair and therefore, they can be treated like your own. Our stylists are experts and trained to give you a perfect blowout with or without extensions!
